Describe an animal

Today's challenge was 'describe an animal'. The students each chose an animal and then brainstormed all the ideas they could about the animal that would describe it. They then got creative and wrote the words in the shape of the animal. 

Some work is on the wall in the office reception or here on the blog. Check them both out.

Welcome all newbies to Write On

Welcome to all my newbies in Write On for the next 10 weeks. I hope you are prepared to have fun, laugh and of course write because I am. Today (or tomorrow) is the start of your Write On adventure that will continue for the next 10 weeks where we will stretch our imaginations, dollop in some good old creative writing fun and build on our writing skills. Its going to be a fantastic 10 weeks and I'm super excited to be teaching and learning along with you.

So bring your brilliant brains, your pencil cases and your imaginations and lets get our Write On.

How cool are you guys and gals?

I am sooooo super proud of you all and so excited to share the photos here of your graduation. It was so nice to have so many families join the celebration and congratulate you on your fantastic work that you have done in Write On. Thank you for such an exciting 10 weeks, it really was a pleasure being your teacher and enjoying some Write On fun with you all :-)

The last Write On challenge - Pick a topic

Yesterday and today was the last Write On challenge class as next week is our graduation. So for our last challenge we wrote down an idea for a story on a scrap piece of paper and put them in a container. We then took turns to take out someone else's idea and wrote our stories from there.

There were some awesome ideas from each student and each group, and the writing was FABULOUS. Here is 4 pieces of work from today's class.

Jayden  - Describe a TV show

Spiderman is a super hero he saves people from robbers. Everyone loves him. But the robbers hate him but I think he is awesome like the other people do too. Awesome super cool and cool. The one spiderman show I have seen is the amazing spiderman. Spiderman turns into spiderman because he got bitten by a venom spider and he makes a costume then he is spiderman and he saves everyone. The end

Caleb - I opened my eyes to see I was in a forest

Once upon a time I opened my eyes and saw a spooky forest. It was a bit dangerous but I was brave as a cat. It was dark too. I camped there in the night. I got taken by a fox when I woke up, I chased the fox. He was scared, he really wanted food. I said 'that's why you took me, because you want to eat me'. He became my pet because I was nice to foxy. Then a few years later when I found the right cave we stayed there. I looked after my pet. We played and played. When I got a bit older my pet died, I was crying but I remembered that I would see him in heaven when I died. I remembered him and when he was my best pet. 

Lucas - I went on an adventure to find big foot

I went on an adventure and I saw a big hairy thing and a goats skull. I picked the goat skull up and I took a photo of it and put it on the 'finding a big foot' blog and my team thought it was cool and said we should do it more often. We gave the computer people the goat skull and the big foot video and they discovered the big foot video is a real real big foot that has long arms that swings them about. We decided to go back and visit and fed it some pig guts. It likes pig guts. The end

Tasmyn - Africa

In Africa there are really cool stuff there like polar bears, and tucans and also you can drive through a tunnel and you do a an echo echo. In the tunnel you can go on a train and on the train you can go to a high hill, it goes up to the sun. I would like to life in a hotel and have free breakfast, and free dinner and free lunch as well and win a puppy yeehoo yay, I had a good time.     I went to the park and I would start to laugh as it was just a dream.

 

Write On Graduation

Woohoo! It's that time again, WE ARE HAVING OUR WRITE IN GRADUATION CELEBRATION. And we want you to come along and share in the fun. So mums/dads/caregivers and friends of our fabulous students come along and join in. The details below are for each of the 3 groups. Ask your child when they have Write On and come along to their class. A notice will be handed out at school also to confirm the time and day for your child's class. It will be great to have you all there and celebrate your child's fantastic work that they have completed over the past 10 weeks in Write On.
